South East Neighbourhood Centre's Knitting and Craft Group are on the lookout for donations of wool (of any ply), feathers and any material scraps to enable them to continue to provide hand knitted blankets and beanies to the many members of our community struggling with the colder weather. As wool stock piles have got low, this committed group of seniors have diversified into making and selling craft products to raise funds to purchase wool. We at SENC are very proud of what this group of ladies has achieved and ask that where possible you show your support by donating any items listed above. Read more
After two years in the creating, we are thrilled to finally announce that the SENC Cookbook The Neighbourhood Table has been published and printed and is ready to go home with family and friends. The launch of the Cookbook occurred on Saturday, 4 June 2011 at Gardeners Road Public School with a High Tea.

For the third year running on Thursday, 26 May, SENC with support from an army of volunteers hosted Australia's Biggest Morning Tea to raise funds for the Cancer Council. In the lead up to the day, smaller events were held across a range of programmes, culminating with the Big event on the 26 May. Despite the cool chill that hung in the air, the warmth generated from conversations, singing, dancing and a delicious array of foods created a generosity of spirit and resulted in $1,064 being raised across all events. The South East Neighbourhood Centre held its Annual General Meeting at the Eastlakes Community Centre on 17 November with an unprecedented turn out of over 200 members and clients. To say that we were overwhelmed by the support we received would be an understatement and we would like to thank everyone who attended on the day. Read more
Members from various South East Neighbourhood Centre social and recreation groups and classes exhibited their artistic work on Friday, 26 November. The participants worked the whole year to create these beautiful pictures, jewellery, garments, cards, childrens' toys and Christmas decorations. Read more and see photos
It was a huge success with around 150 trivia nerds packed into the Gardeners Road Public School Hall to participate in a fun evening of trivia, good food and great company. Read more
The Maisie Foster Award 2010 was presented to Maria Carter, the oldest volunteer in our Centre. She first came to SENC in 2004. She stated that although she was already 80, she wanted to be needed and be useful while she was still capable. Since then she has become one of our volunteer English teachers. Read more
Doreen Dyce is one of many Seniors in our community who uses a computer on a daily basis. She takes her iPad with her everywhere she goes and uses it for everything from her role as Secretary of the 55 Plus Older Women's group to reading books at home. "I was running out of space and the money I would have spent on bookshelves went towards an iPad." She finds reading so much easier now "because of the light behind it." Read more
